Rev Marvin K. McElhannon (Grandpa) was a great influence in my life. He served as Pastor of several churches in sixty years of ministry.
The fondest place of my memory was at Porum, Oklahoma, where he and Grandma (Rosetta) served for over 20 years. He was
dedicated to his church, his family, and his community. His countenance shone with the glory of God. I pray that I will inherit the Christian
qualities he exhibited on a daily basis. Although he is missed, he and Grandma are now in a place of rest, comfort, and indescribable joy.
With that thought, I take comfort in knowing that for those in Christ, life never ceases.

Men Ought to. Oct 22, 1998.

Luke 18: 1. Men ought always to pray, and not faint.

Most of us, if we are honest with ourselves, must admit that there are many things we should
do that we fail to complete. As we look around us we see a multitude of humanity rushing into
eternity. Confusion, sickness, poverty, unrest, and grief are seen on the faces of so many.

For example, the sick ought to be ministered to; the hungry ought to be fed; The sorrowing
ought to be comforted; and the confused ought to be given direction. But the greatest need of
all is that those without Christ ought to be witnessed to.

Who should do this? The Bible says that we are witnesses. This is done by example and word.
We ought to be telling the greatest story ever told; the story of the crucified Christ. But our
Saviour said, "Men ought to always to pray and not lose heart." All of our other "ought to's" will
be a lot more effective if we are faithful in prayer. More has been accomplished through prayer
than anything else.
